Do I get to choose the adoptive parents?
Absolutely! If you are an expectant mother wanting to place your baby for adoption, you can contact our office and review the profiles of our families waiting to adopt. You have control over the process and we want to make you as comfortable as possible. We work very hard to ensure you are presented with profiles of couples that have all the qualities you seek in adoptive parents.
Can I contact my child after the adoption is finalized?
Yes. We work with couples that are interested in both open and closed adoptions. In an open adoption, you can maintain contact with your child throughout his/her life! During the adoption process we will draft a post-adoption contact agreement that clearly lays out the amount of contact both you and the adoptive parents are comfortable with. In all adoptions we encourage you to get to know the adoptive couple you have chosen to place your baby with, but in open adoptions it is even more important to develop what will be a lifelong relationship.
Do I need the birth father’s consent?
Every situation is different. If you know who the father of your baby is, he must be given notice and an opportunity to consent to the adoption. If he refuses to sign the adoption consent, there are other ways to terminate his rights. Because every situation is different, please contact our office so we can talk about your specific situation.
